We are seeking an experienced Senior Systems / DevSecOps Engineer to support the administration, integration, deployment, and sustainment of complex Linux-based systems in a mission-critical environment. The ideal candidate will have strong experience across Linux systems administration, networking, Kubernetes, containerization, cloud environments, and DevSecOps automation.
This position supports the installation, configuration, integration, testing, and ongoing maintenance of enterprise and mission systems across development, test, laboratory, and operational environments. The successful candidate will work across infrastructure and application layers to troubleshoot complex issues, improve system reliability, and support new system deployments.
Responsibilities
- Perform Linux systems administration, configuration, troubleshooting, upgrades, and maintenance.
- Travel as required to support information system installation, maintenance, integration, and troubleshooting.
- Support system installation, integration, configuration, testing, deployment, and sustainment activities.
- Design, configure, and maintain network infrastructure supporting distributed systems.
- Administer LAN/CAN/WAN environments and troubleshoot network connectivity and performance issues.
- Configure and optimize network connectivity between front-end and back-end systems.
- Work with Cisco and Arista network equipment.
- Design and implement solutions involving a variety of network and infrastructure components.
- Deploy and maintain applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Configure and administer Kubernetes clusters with an emphasis on high availability, scalability, security, and reliability.
- Support containerized applications and cluster orchestration across development, test, and operational environments.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins and GitLab.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Ansible and/or Terraform.
- Develop automation and system administration scripts using Python and Bash.
- Monitor and troubleshoot hybrid cloud and virtualized environments.
- Participate in system integration, testing, deployment, and operational troubleshooting.
- Investigate system and network problems, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
- Support mission-critical systems and respond to operational discrepancies as required.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, system configurations, and deployment procedures.
- Provide 24/7 on-call support for critical operational issues.
Required Qualifications
- 12 years of experience supporting software and system deployments, Linux system administration, containerization, cloud deployments, and DevSecOps environments.
- Strong hands-on experience administering Linux, preferably RHEL/CentOS.
- Recent hands-on experience with Kubernetes within the last 3 years.
- Recent experience with cluster orchestration within the last 3 years.
- Recent experience with containerization within the last 3 years.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production or mission-critical environments.
- Experience with network administration, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with Cisco and Arista network devices.
- Experience with Python and Bash scripting.
- Experience with Jenkins, GitLab, or similar CI/CD platforms.
- Experience with Ansible and/or Terraform for infrastructure automation.
- Experience supporting cloud, hybrid-cloud, and virtualized environments.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex issues across operating systems, networks, containers, and infrastructure.
- Ability to support 24/7 on-call operations for critical system discrepancies.
- Willingness to travel for system installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
- Four additional years of relevant experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree.
- A Master of Science in Engineering or Computer Science may substitute for two years of required experience.
Certifications
- Active IAT Level II / DoD 8570-compliant certification, such as Security+.
- CCNA certification required.
Clearance Requirements
- Active TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph.
- Polygraph must have been completed within the last seven years.
This is a hands-on engineering position requiring recent Kubernetes and containerization experience, strong Linux administration skills, and the ability to work across networking, cloud, and DevSecOps environments.
