Network Engineer

About the Role
The Network Engineer supports the performance, reliability, and configuration of enclave networks and systems. This role monitors, analyzes, troubleshoots, and resolves network and system issues across LAN/CAN/WAN environments, working closely with internal stakeholders and external organizations to restore service and maintain operational excellence. The ideal candidate brings strong enterprise networking architecture, experience coordinating incident resolution, and familiarity with cloud and automation concepts.
What You’ll Work On
- Monitor, analyze, troubleshoot, and evaluate hardware, software, and other network-related problems to ensure availability and performance.
- Provide technical expertise for the performance and/or configuration of enclave networks and supporting systems.
- Perform general LAN/CAN/WAN administration and support, including:
- Switches, routers, firewalls, and load balancers
- Schedule, coordinate, and execute firmware upgrades and hardware migrations in accordance with change management practices.
- Coordinate with responsible users, system owners, and external organizations to drive timely resolution of network or system incidents.
- Support DNS services, including configuration and maintenance of BIND.
- Perform Linux-based operational and troubleshooting tasks using common command-line utilities.
- Support AWS cloud environment activities, with emphasis on EC2 and VPC fundamentals (connectivity, routing, and troubleshooting).
- Contribute to operational efficiency through scripting and automation; Ansible experience is a plus.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated experience supporting enterprise network environments (LAN/CAN/WAN).
- Proven ability to troubleshoot network/system issues and coordinate incident resolution across multiple stakeholders.
Familiarity with:
- AWS (particularly EC2 and VPC)
- DNS/BIND
- Linux command-line operations and troubleshooting
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity and/or hands-on experience with:
- Cisco IOS
- F5 BIG-IP
- Palo Alto hardware and software
- Experience with scripting and automation, especially Ansible.
- Experience designing and planning new network environments
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field and six (6) years of experience in a similar role; or An additional six (6) years of relevant experience may be substituted for the Bachelor’s Degree; or An Associate’s Degree plus an additional four (4) years of relevant experience.
- Compliance with DoD 8570.01-M with a minimum certification of IAT Level II (SEC+ or CCNA)
